My name is Caterina Barrera. I am from Miami, Fl but am currently based in Chicago, Il.

My practice consists of digital collaging, screen printing, and paper making. I often use food in my work because of my background in baking. I like to explore different ways I can take an everyday archetypal piece of food, like a cracker and transform it into something atypical, like a cracker “rug”.

I am interested in presenting my viewers with something so familiar in such an unfamiliar way. Food is my preferred medium and main source of inspiration, While as print media is what assists me to convey my ideas. I find myself often using found objects and recycling them into sculptural collages. much like my DIGITAL print work.

In my art practice, no object and no material is disposable or useless.
